Nigeria League of Women Voters (NILOWV) Plateau State Chapter today 27th July, 2022 paid an advocacy visit to His Royal Highness, Da Hon. Justice Gyang Sha (Rtd) to seek his Royal blessings and supports as they it plan to carry out mass mobilization of the public to register as voters in order to actively participate in the 2023 general elections to elect leaders of their choices in the forthcoming elections.
Hon. Theresa Azi, Plateau Northern Zone Coordinator of the Group flanked by Hon. Barr. Huldah Fwangchi Chairperson Tink Tank, Mrs Nvou Pwajok State PRO NILOWV and Mrs Dorcas Ogbodo NILOWV Treasurer hinted that they were at the Palace of the Traditional Ruler to pay homage, intimate him of the activities of the group and to seek his Royal blessings as they storm the area to carry out aggressive awareness campaign and mobilize eligible persons to register massively in the ongoing Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR). She said they are mobilizing the public for greater participation and involvement in the political system.
“This is a Group comprised mainly of Women who have come together irrespective of their political inclinations to carry out various activities that will increase political awareness in Women and ensure that women contesting elective positions are massively supported.
“We are at your palace to pay homage to your revered seat and to notify you of our forthcoming mobilization campaign for voters’ registration slated for 31st July, 2022 at Polo Field which is your domain and we deemed it fit to formally inform you and seek your support and other Ward Heads in mobilizing the people” she said. She further reiterated the commitment of the group towards ensuring that women are empowered politically and economically so they can contribute their quota to nation building.
The group commended the royal father for his contributions to the legal system as a retired legal Professional as well as the critical roles he is playing to the unity, peace and development of the area.
The Royal Father who was flanked by some Ward Heads of the Area appreciated the group for the visit and lauded the initiative of mobilizing the public to be registered as voters which he described as a step in the right direction. He applauded the immense contributions of women to political stability and National development. He admonished them not to relent in their activities but continue to push until the needed transformation and sustainable development are achieved.
“Just like the Women in the Bible who were with Jesus even to the grave and making impact, I want to see that you succeed in your plan which to me is highly commendable. As Traditional Rulers, we’ll support you and mobilize our people to ensure they are registered so that they will take active part in the electoral process” he disclosed.
