The killings in Plateau state and particularly Bassa local government area has reached an alarming stage that calls for a change of approach by all Plateau people since it is obvious that the federal government has abandoned us to lick our wounds.
We have Operation Safe Haven in the state, the headquarters of the three division of the Nigerian Army is in Bassa local government area and yet the killings have persisted while those who are saddled with the responsibility of curbing the situation stand and look.
More worrisome is the non charllant attitude of our political leaders who are supposed to move to Abuja in their numbers to meet the president and commander in chief of the armed forces and report the real situation are merely condemning the massacre through statements.
We all recall how Sheikh Usman Dahiru Bauchi went and met the president when his men were killed in Jos, why can’t our political leaders in plateau state take a queue from that and if need be, come out to the streets and protest peacefully so that our cry can be heard if not by the presidency, may be the international community will hear us and come to our rescue better.
Where are the federal government appointees, the minister of Women Affairs, where are our Senators? Where is the deputy speaker, House of Reps? Where are our house of Reps members, where are the other appointees of the federal government from plateau state? Enough of condemnation, enough of lip service, enough of personal interest, it is time to safe our state from the hands of our enemies.
What does it take to cry out to the powers that be? Plateau State is bleeding and we cannot continue like this.
It started like this some years back with one local government and one tribe and today, it is gradually going round.
How long shall we continue to be silent while the blood of our dear people flows?
It is time the visiting governor of plateau state, Simon Bako Lalong comes back home and face the reality and stop deceiving himself with that ceremonial headship of Northern Governors’ Forum.
I sincerely commiserate with the Irigwe nation, the good people of Bassa local government area and the people of plateau state over the demise of the innocent lives.
For those who were injured, they can access Free medical treatment at the John Pofi Foundation Medical Centre Fudawa, Jos.
May God repose the souls of the faithful departed and to the injured, devine visitation.
