Following the conduct of the Local Government Congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which took place yesterday to elect the 27-man Executive across the Nation, the Management Committee Chairman of Riyom Local Government Council, Hon. Mafeng Gwallson has lauded the exercise describing it as free, fair, credible and widely acceptable in the area.
He disclosed that the congresses were peaceful and commended the maturity and understanding displayed by the Stakeholders and party faithfuls to the consensus option adopted by the party.
Hon. Gwallson also expressed hinted that the chances of the ruling party in future elections at the Local Government Area, State and Nationally is high and brighter.
He said the party is gaining greater acceptability in the area compared to what was obtainable in the past in terms of electoral performance.
He said the Council has a model of governance that is centred on the people and making their voices heard.
He said despite the challenges confronting the party, it remains the party to beat as it performance has improved significantly and marginally since 2015 when its performance was abysmal in the area.
The Council Chairman said the consensus was possible and widely accepted by stakeholders on account of the priority given to all the Districts as positions were zoned in order to carry all along in the best interest of the people.
He lauded the 7-man committee chaired by Barr. James Vwi which he inaugurated for the consensus for the wonderful work they did which made the congresses easier, peaceful and without rancour.
He said other nine persons who indicated interest unilaterally agreed to the consensus and promised to work with the consensus candidate.
The New Executives led by a former Supervisory Councillor of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon. Ntoy Ngyang Gwong were sworn in and the handing over ceremony was observed.
The New APC Chairman Riyom LGA, Hon. Ntoy Ngyang Gwong appreciated the party’s stakeholders and supporters for believing in him and entrusting him with the mandate which he promised not to disappoint but justify same by uniting the party for victory in the future.
He said he work with all Members for the growth and development of the party in the area, State and Nation at large.
