Desirous to rid the society of the menace of drugs abuse and other substances, Senator Hezekiah Ayuba Dimka, Senate Committee Chairman on Drugs and Narcotics has emphasised close collaboration between all in communities against drug abuse.
The Senator was speaking today during an Advocacy/Sensitization Program on Narcotics and Psychotropic Drugs Addiction for Secondary School students in Bokkos LGA, Plateau State.
He said he was happy with the NDLEA in its effort to ensure that younger persons are sensitized so that they will know that drug abuse has harmful effects when consumed illegally.
He adviced youth drawn from various secondary schools in Bokkos LGA not to be lured to engage in the consumption of drugs as many lives have been lost on account of that, even as he applauded the efforts of NDLEA in the fight to combat the crime in schools and communities by its men and officers.
Chairman of Bokkos local government area, Hon Joseph Guluwa, who was in company of his deputy, secretary and other council and party officials thanked Senator Dimka for his efforts to sensitize the youth and prayed that the beneficiaries will be ambassadors of a drug free society.
He prayed for God to enable him play the critical role God has destined him to, as well as in his endeavour to govern the state in 2023.
Bello Mumini of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Plateau State Command spoke on drugs and its effects during the sensitization which was held in conjunction with Auto North Ltd as it was sponsored by Senator Hezekiah Ayuba Dimka.
The event is continuing in Kanke January 21, 2022 as well as it is being slated to take place subsequently in the other LGAs that make up the central zone.
Maren Jamle Moses and Mangut Bitsisinzhek Gabriel, two participants at the event thanked Senator Hezekiah Dimka for considering to be part of the sensitization.
