Nigeria’s major opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has held its 75th National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting this evening at the party’s Zonal Secretariat, Plot 1970 Michael Okpara Street, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja while all is now set for its Special Non-elective National Convention slated for 10am tomorrow Saturday 12th August, 2017 at Eagle Square, Central Business District, Abuja.
A visit by Viewpoint to Hotels in the Federal Capital indicated that most hotels are out of accommodation on account of the delegates and party supporters who have been in Abuja since Tuesday 8th August, 2017 while many are trooping in to witness the great Convention.
Hoteliers in the FCT said they are making good turnover and are happy of the choice of Abuja for the Convention which they said has brought significant improvement in their businesses. Some said they don’t have any room leftover as all are filled up with guest and they look forward to giving them exceptional services so as to attract them for future patronage.
Taxi drivers from some locations visited by Viewpoint Nigeria said they are excited because they are making good money from the people patronizing them. They opined it has been long that they have witness such patronage and pray event as such should always be hosted in Abuja and at regular intervals. One of them said as you can see, Abuja has been very busy since Monday 7th August, 2017 because of the Convention of PDP and people are coming in all across the Country in thousands.
It will be recall that the Supreme Court has ruled and put to rest the leadership tussle between Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff and Sen. Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi on 12th July, 2017 in which it declared Sen. Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic National Caretaker Chairman of the party. A decision that has brought members of the party together and more stronger.
Viewpoint Nigeria will be readily available at Eagle Square to witness and report events at the Convention accordingly.
