A notorious bandit leader, Abubakar Adamu, popularly known as Buba who has been terrorising innocent and harmless citizens of Mushere West has been arrested in Hokk village of Horop District, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The arrest was made by a joint security team led by Sub Lieutenant Abubakar Aminu Buda, Area Commander of the Operation Enduring Peace in Mushere, comprising nine soldiers, six vigilante and seven hunters as well as some Mushere West community leaders.
The combined security team which went to the village on motorcycles due to the poor nature of the road, took the bandits unawares as they scampered for safety on sighting the security team and escaped into the mountains. However luck ran out for their leader, Buba, who was apprehended at the Hokk Market square and was taken to the Primary School playground by the security team for interrogation.
It would be recalled that the entire Mushere Chiefdom was subjected to unwarranted attacks since last year, especially Mushere West where bandits killed innocent citizens, destroyed their houses, carted away foodstuff and livestock worth millions of naira.
Residents of the communities who are mostly peasant farmers and hunters that escaped the attack were forced to seek refuge at the Internally Displaced People camps in Horop, Ik’ngwagap and Bokkos town.
This is the first time security agencies have gone to Hokk and arrested one of the bandits since the attacks started last year, as they have intensified patrols with a view to apprehending the bandits who have been operating in the area, by launching attacks on soft targets in Mushere West Community.
While appreciating the bravery, resilience and gallantry of the Area Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, Mushere, Sub Lieutenant Abubakar Aminu Buda and his men, residents of the area have urged him to sustain the tempo by undertaking such operations to make the community safe for the people, especially this farming season.
The arrested bandit leader is currently detained at the Headquarters of the Operation Enduring Peace in Jos for further investigation.
