DACHUNG MUSA BAGOS MARKS WORLD TEACHER’S DAY ENGAGING WITH STAKEHOLDERS ON MOVING THE SECTOR FORWARD.
Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos, member representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency at the House Of Representatives, marks World’s Teachers Day with a parley with all education stakeholders within his constituency comprising; Local Government Education Secretaries of Jos South and Jos East LG, 30 Government Secondary School Principals, 217 Head Teachers of Government Primary schools and Nigeria Union of Teachers(NUT) representatives.
The parley was aimed at having discussions on the challenges facing the education sector and to proffer possible solutions.
In line with his determined efforts aimed at #EquippingTheNextGeneration, the member stated that education is the key to making a difference, emphasizing that “we must make sure that generations to come, become greater than us”.
Chief among challenges highlighted by those who spoke are, poor security, under staffing , a general lack of technical workshops to retrain teachers, poorly equipped laboratories, poor motivation/remuneration for teachers, lack of instructional materials, poor learning environment, land grabbing within the school environment in some cases, poverty among parents and guardians were identified as the problems facing the education sector within the constituency.
While reacting to issues raised the member promised to work with stakeholders in preferring solutions to the problems while outlining some measures he hopes to take towards reducing the plights of the teachers, students and pupils of the constituency.
The meeting ended with praises and appreciation for the members initiative as its the first time such a parley is been organized within the constituency.
