The Plateau State House of Assembly has appealed to the management of United Bank of Africa (UBA), to remain in Kanam Local Government Area, following an alleged proposal by it to relocate to Pankshin LGA.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, who is also the member representing Kanam- Kantana Constituency, Yusuf  Gagdi, raised a motion under matter of urgent public importance asking the House to intervene in the proposed relocation.

The motion was supported by all the members as a result of which the Speaker, Peter Azi, asked the Clerk of the House to write to the bank and appeal to them not to relocate their branch.

Azi however urged the members representing Kanam to go back to their constituency and ask their constituents to open accounts with the bank.

An elder from the community, Mohammed Yusuf Kanam, while thanking the House for its intervention said the bank was the only one in operation in the LGA and stressed that they would encourage their people to increase their patronage.
