The Plateau State Commissioner for Water Resources and Energy, Hon. Engineer David Ja’afaru Wuyep has reaffirmed the ministry’s readiness to partner with organizations that would bring development to the state, both in the water and energy sectors.
Engr. Wuyep stated this while receiving in audience Tearfund UK organization in his office in Jos, last Friday. He described the visit by Tearfund UK as timely, especially now that the ministry was doing its best to connect the rural people with light in the state.
He told Tearfund UK that Plateau State was also rated as the hub of renewable energy in the country, adding that, the state has identified 30 points for its renewable energy projects in the state. Engr. Wuyep maintained that plans were still in the pipe lines to increase the ration of energy in the state, adding that, the state was blessed with good wind corridor.
He also said that, the rescue administration would do everything possible to ensure that it creates an enabling environment that would attract investors in the energy sector in the state.
Earlier in his remarks, Advocacy Manager Tearfund Nigeria, Mr. Ben Osawe thanked the commissioner and his management staff stressing that the main purpose of their visit was to seek for partnership, especially in the area of renewable energy in the state. He said that Tearfund works in 50 countries in the areas of environment and development and also frame a lot of intervention programme for the youths, especially the youths and green jobs programme recently organized for the youths in Plateau State.
He assured the commissioner of the organization readiness to contribute to the development of the state in the energy sector.
