The Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN and General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Ibrahim Ali has admonished all peace loving citizens to unite against enemies of peace in the society.
He made the call today 13 November 2021 during the Unity and Peace Marathon Competition organized for youths of Wase and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Plateau and Bauchi States.
While calling on the youths to distance themselves from activities that will destroy their future, General Ali noted that exposing bad eggs in society is the surest way to achieving peace. He called on community and religious leaders to champion the course of peace in their communities. ‘You must unite against criminals, to prevent them from uniting to destabilise our communities’ he stressed.
The Commander further urged the youths to take the lead in the fight against all forms of criminality by providing credible information to security agencies. Such information he assured would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
Delivering their goodwill messages, the Emir of Wase and Chairman Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Plateau state, Dr Muhammadu Salihu Haruna and the Local Government Council Chairmen pledged the full support of their subjects to security agencies in the area. They agreed that unity against criminality is for the interest of the people adding that when the society is dominated by criminals, economic activities cannot thrive.
Earlier in their welcome addresses, the Commander, Forward Operating Base Wase, Major Nasiru Ali and Commander, Tafawa Balewa Forward Operating Base, Major Sule Iliyasu remarked that the Peace and Unity Marathon Competition was initiated by Operation SAFE HAVEN to promote peaceful co-existence and unity among the youths and people of the area.
Highlight of the event were cultural dance, presentation of trophies, medal and cash prizes to boys and girls who distinguished themselves in the competition as well as special presentation to a physically challenged person who also participated in the race.
