Nigeria @ 61: Plateau Rep. Mwadkwon Harps on Unity, True Patriotism and Sense of Humanity for National Prosperity

In what could be described as his first Public outing since he had an accident sometimes on May 7th, 2021, the Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency, Dr. Simon Mwadkwon stormed the venue of the Peace & Unity Independence Day Celebration to the amazement of thousands of Guests who were being entertained, educated and sensitized.

Dr. Mwadkwon charged the people to be more united and accord greater priority to their sense of humanity, eschew bitterness, hatred and other unhealthy sentiments. He called on Nigerians to have faith in the Country and not allow religion, ethnicity, politics and other sentiments manipulate their sense of humanity and National patriotism.

“We are first human before we became persons of a given religion, ethnic group, political party or geopolitical zone”

“Our sense of humanity and patriotism must supersede any form of primordial sentiments that are retrogressive and inimical to National prosperity”

He thanked God for healing him speedily after the accident and appreciated the people for their prayers and supports.

The Federal Lawmaker reiterated his commitment to human capital development through strategic and result-oriented empowerment of his Constituents especially the Youths.
As a Lawmaker, he said he will contribute legislatively in making laws that will promote unity, engender development and impact the people as well as the society.
He said the essence of the event was to engender unity and promote peace among the citizens in the Federal Constituency and beyond promising to have a bigger one that will bring together people from Plateau Northern Zone next Year.

The youths urge him to declare his interest to contest for the Plateau North Senate Seat come 2023 to provide credible and purpose driven leadership to people of the Zone, Plateau State and Nigeria at large.

The 2021 Peace & Unity Independence Day was sponsored by the Lawmaker and put together by Gwol/Riyom Youth Connect.

Apostle Yanga Dabang (Apostle of Humanism) gave a brief history of Nigeria and lauded leaders who worked for a prosperous Nation.
He urged Nigerians to make humanity their watch word, promote peace and contribute to Nation building.
“Any religion without humanity should be rejected”

“Peace is a friend to all and all should work for peace”
“Our sense of humanity should supersede any form of sentiments” he said.

A renowned Medical Laboratory Scientist and Youth Activist, Sct. James Nyango made presentation on the impact of Drugs/Substance abuse where he charged the guests to avoid drug abuse as it is capable of making them unemployable, causing illnesses and eventual lead to premature death.
He urged the youths to make good use of their time, energy, abilities and gifts.
He said the negative impacts of drug abuse outweighs it usefulness to the users.

Sector 4 Commandant of Operation Safe Haven, Col. MD Abdulsalam who was represented charged the citizens to be promoters of peaceful coexistence.
He said there is no alternative to peace and reassured the citizens that the outfit will continue to work to ensure the restoration of lasting peace and rid the area of criminal activities.

In his remarks, former President of the Berom Youth Moulder – Association (BYM), Da Francis Jamang lauded the event and charged Nigerians to be promoters of Peace, unity and prosperity of Nigeria.

Guests were thrilled and entertained with performances from upcoming Music Artistes, Dance Groups, Painting and lots more which were preceded by a Peace & Unity Walk in Barkin Ladi Town.
