NANS Celebrates Asiwaju for Spearheading its Unity

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has celebrated the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) HE Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his role in facilitating the unity of the association.

This was put forward by Comrade Umar Faruk Lawal (Fakki) who had held sway and led a faction of the association as a fall out of the recently concluded NANS Convention.

In an emotional statement issued exclusively to Nigeria Star News Blog, he states thus “Leadership indeed is a Price, and Sacrifice in its true sense is a Pierce I never knew. My heart bled and my soul cried when the nation beckoned me to sacrifice what I adjudged a mandate unjustly taken from me. I kept telling myself that NANS required a dependable LEADERSHIP, which in my opinion I possessed far more than any in the contest, having served as Coordinator of the largest Zone (Zone A)”.

He called continued thus that “However, a time comes in one’s life when one must be in touch with conscience, purpose, and fate. It was this call of duty from our dear association, the Leader of the Natives, persuasions from SA to Governors, former leaders of this great body that made us resolve not to subvert nor encourage any type of sabotage. My home became a mecca of sort. People of means, influence and power came my way to convince me that it was my turn to sacrifice and so I yielded. I saw great men humbly reach out to me, listen to me, comfort me and even attest to the value of my team. It was pertinent to avoid making a difficult situation even more complex, and so it dawned on me that it was my time to feel the Pierce of Sacrifice. Never mind the tears I shed during the Unity Press Conference, my hard emotions betrayed me, my surrender is total, and I have moved on to Politics.”

In stating the role of HE Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Comrade Fakki noted thus that “Amongst all the people that reached out was this great man that always gave me a listening ear, showed me empathy, and supported me as a father would to his son. It was therefore easy when He (Asiwaju) called myself and my brother (and name’s sake), fellow coordinator to a truce”.

He quoted HE Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu as saying thus that “you are my son, you are part of my family, NANS is dear to all of us, so are students and your Lecturers, I am intervening on the ASUU Crisis, Speaker Femi is working hard on it, President Buhari is persuaded, and this Crisis will come to an end Umar. I can’t fear to tell you that you need a united front to present your case as students. I have great plans for students, and it will be seen from May 29 2023. Therefore, I plead, with you Comr. Fakky give peace a chance, let your organisation move forward.”

Comrade Fakki further revealed thus “I assure you no words could be as reassuring as these, immediately myself and Comr. Barambu (now President) began the reconciliation process. I sincerely thank Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, my big brother my Boss Seyi Tinubu (ST), my brother and personal friend Dami, for their untiring efforts at defending the Unity of our Organization, you guys’ rock, I salute you all. To my friend who made me the Head of his government, my supporters, and followers, thank you so much.”

Comrade Fakki also used the opportunity to appreciate Hon Shina Abiola Peller, Member Representing Iseyin/Kajola/Itesiwaju Federal Constituency for his role in solidifying the unity of NANS
