Mushere Killings: APC National Chairman Yilwatda visits Affected Communities, Donates Relief Materials, Pledges Reconstruction

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, on Sunday 28 June 2026 visited Mushere Chiefdom in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State to commiserate with victims of recent attacks and previous attacks, distribute relief materials and pledge support for the reconstruction of destroyed communities.

The visit followed the June 21 attack on Kawel community in Mushere District, where over 22 persons, including medical personnel, were reportedly killed by suspected Fulani terrorists.

Prof. Yilwatda, who attended church service at COCIN R.C.C. Ik’ngwakap, Mushere, expressed sympathy with affected families and assured residents that the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remained committed to addressing insecurity and restoring normalcy in troubled communities.

He said the Renewed Hope administration understands the plight of victims and is intensifying efforts through security interventions and coordinated measures to protect lives and property across the country.

As part of the intervention, the APC National Chairman distributed relief materials and cash donations to affected residents. Items donated are 500 bags of rice, 100 bags of beans, 100 bags of maize, Palm oil, G/nut oil seasonings etc and another additional 300 Bags of Rice for women groups is expected to arrive Monday 29th June, 2026.

He made donations of N30m (Thirty Million Naira) to all affected communities, N10m ( Ten Million Naira) to all Mushere women group and N10m (Ten Million Naira) to Mushere Community Development Association (MCDA). The funds have been received by MCDA for distributions to the mentioned groups.

He also announced plans to support the reconstruction of destroyed houses in Kawel community.

According to him, consultations would be held with traditional rulers, the Mushere Development Association and church leaders to ensure transparency and effective deployment of resources for rebuilding efforts.

“I am going to sit with the rulers of the communities, Mushere Development Association and church leaders so that the support we provide will contribute to rebuilding the community. We will also look at how to support those with medical conditions,” Yilwatda said.

He encouraged residents not to abandon farming despite the recurring attacks, stressing that agriculture remains central to livelihoods and economic development in Plateau State and Nigeria.

The APC National Chairman further urged the people to remain vigilant, prayerful and united while supporting government efforts to end insecurity.

Accompanying him on the visit were the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro; Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Na’anlong Daniel; APC Plateau Central Senatorial candidate, Chief David Barji; chairmen of Kanke, Pankshin and Bokkos Local Government Areas; Nde Gideon Barde, Nde John Gobak (former SSG), Polycarp Gumwos, Hon Sam Damla, Prof John Nvau, Hon Luka Makut, Hon Banahel Andong, Borok Fomson, Hon Splomon Maren and other stakeholders.

Speaking during the visit, Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Na’anlong Daniel, commended Yilwatda for what he described as compassionate leadership and solidarity with grieving communities.
Hon Na’anlong Daniel also lauded President Tinubu for efforts toward strengthening internal security and expressed support for moves toward State Police, noting that the Plateau State House of Assembly would provide legislative backing where necessary.

He assured residents that the Assembly remained committed to supporting policies and programmes aimed at enhancing security and promoting lasting peace across the state.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting communities affected by humanitarian crises and assured victims of continued intervention through relevant agencies.
Community leaders, youth and women representatives expressed appreciation for the visit, describing the intervention as timely and encouraging.

They thanked the delegation for identifying with them in their moment of grief and for providing humanitarian support to affected families.
