Wednesday 20th September 2023 was very engaging as the Minister of Labour and Employment, Barr. Simon Bako Lalong, CON together with Minister of State Hon. Nkeiruka Onyeajeocha continued follow up on implementation of demands of the organized Labour towards averting an impending strike.
They paid a visit to the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters to discuss with the representative of the acting IGP on the occupation of the NURTW Secretariat and arrest of some leaders of the union.
Thereafter, they met with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Sen. George Akume before proceeding to the Presidential villa to brief Vice President Kashim Shettima.
After the meeting with the Vice President, the Minister of Labour and Employment Simon Bako Lalong told journalists that the government was working hard to ensure that the demands of labour are met.
He said so far, discussions have been friendly and fruitful with both parties showing understanding and agreeing to work together to engender industrial harmony.
Other details of the closed door meetings were not disclosed.
