The Jos and Gombe depots of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) are to be re-commission into functional depots capable of serving the energy needs of their respective regions. The group Managing Director of the NNPC, Engr. Andrew Yakubu, made this assertion at the weekend, when he commissioned the Benin depot, in Edo state.

He suggested that since the NNPC has in the recent past re-commissioned the Mosimi, Aba and Benin depots, the next plan would be to re-commission the Jos and Gombe depots, whilst other ones to will follow shortly until all 21 depots in the country were fully functional.

The occasion had in attendance several imminent Nigerians, including the minister for Petroleum resources Diezani Alison-Madueke and the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshimole. In her address, the minister noted that the re-commissioning of the Benin depot was part of the Government’s plans to sanitise the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry. The Governor further buttressed the points made by the minister, stressing that the exercise demonstrates the Federal Governments resolve at maintaining the on-going reforms in the oil and gas industry.
