The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that there will be improved electricity supply by June 2013, following the completion of the ten power plants being constructed under the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP). This assurance was given by the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi after the 25th meeting of the board of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, held at the Presidential villa and chaired by Vice president Architect Nnamadi Sambo.

He averred that the June deadline for the completion of work was relevant for distribution companies only, whilst transmission companies have until December 2013 to finalise their upgrades and developments. He stated further that the NNPC and SHELL have given concrete assurances of adequate gas supply, albeit the suffcient supply that is currently available.
