Int’l Youth Day: Dr. Simon Mwadkwon Commends Nigerian Youths for Their Contribution to Nation Building

As the World commemorates the 2022 International Youth Day, the Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency and the PDP Senate Candidate Plateau North, Hon. Simon Mwadkwon Ph.D has commended the youths in his Federal Constituency, Plateau North, Plateau State and Nigeria for the immense roles they are playing to national growth and development.

The Lawmaker hinted that the theme of International Youth Day 2022 “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages” is apt and timely considering how the youths are being sidelined and relegated to the background when it comes to decision making on key issues and the governance process despite their contributions to Nation building.
“For the Nation to achieve greatness, there is urgent need to make effective use of the potentials of the youths.
“The youths must be mentored, empowered and their capacities built in order for them to achieve their full potentials at appreciable levels” he said.

According to the Federal Lawmaker, solidarity across generations is key to achieving sustainable development.

He decried how the youths are being emasculated and jettisoned in the political landscape and governance process.
He charged government at all levels and other stakeholders to accord opportunities to the youths so they can showcase their talents, gifts, abilities and capabilities to transform the society.
He disclosed that as a Lawmaker, he will give continue to give greater attention to youth development through education, skills acquisition and other areas that will provide veritable platforms for the youths to thrive and become economically, socially and financially buoyant and stable.

“Youths possess gifts and talents that must be tapped in a fit environment to translate to socio-economic wellbeing”
“Do not allow yourselves to be used by any individual, group or Institution for their parochial interests.
“Continue to stand by what you know is right and push your demands in a peaceful manner” he said.

He concluded by admonishing the youths not to be deterred in the face of the economic hardships and security challenges being faced but remain optimistic of a better and greater future and continue to contribute their quota to national unity, peace, development & prosperity.
