Int’l Women’s Day 2021: Rep. Mwadkwon Says Women Possesses Multidimensional Capacities and Competencies that Must be Harnessed for National Development

As International Women’s Day is observed globally, the Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency, Rep. Simon Mwadkwon has described Women as persons with multidimensional abilities, capacities, capabilities and competence needed for National development.

Rep. Mwadkwon said International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day set aside to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women World over.

He said the capabilities and competencies of Women must be built and adequately harnessed in order for them to attain their full potentials at appreciable level and for Nation building.

He said this year’s theme “Choose To Challenge” is timely and very important considering the immense contributions of Women to the unity, peace, prosperity and development of the Nation. He posited that Women must be given the opportunities to display their gifts and abilities.
He decried how women are being raped, kidnapped, harassed and discriminated against by certain cultural and religious beliefs. He said such unhealthy and retrogressive tendencies must be tackled to enable women excel in all positive ramifications.

He charged women not to relent in contributing their quota to a better and prosperous Nation. He lauded Women who against all odds are breaking barriers in excelling thereby making the Nation and the society proud.

As a Legislator, he promised to legislate on matters that will increase Women participation in politics and the governance process.

He wished them a befitting celebration.
