The embattled Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nuhu Abok has described as baseless, untrue and fictitious the news of his purported resignation as Speaker.
Rt. Hon. Nuhu Abok disclosed that he has not tendered any resignation and remains Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly as erroneously and mischievously reported by some media outfits.
In a letter signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Bulus Atang, the Speaker hinted that the news is baseless and the handiwork of mischief makers with the aim of misinforming and misleading the public who are supportive of the Speaker.
He said the State House of Assembly was invaded and property destroyed by those who orchestrated his illegal removal in order to blackmail and incite him against the people of Plateau State as well as get access to his office to get his official documents.
He went further to say his letterhead was illegally taken from his Office and his signature was forged by someone on the purported resignation letter which was made viral.
He urged the public to disregard the purported letter of resignation in circulation saying it didn’t emanate from him but the plan by haters of democracy who are head bent on undermining the rule of law, constitutional provisions and the Standing Rules of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
He stressed that having failed in their determination to impeach him with the number of Legislators as required by law, they have resorted to more criminal and childish avenues. He said their obvious motive is to destabilize the State.
He asked why he will resign after being impeached by the people who are behind the purported letter of resignation.
He said as the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, he is committed to ensuring the entrenchment of the rule of law and working in line with the interest of the people of the State who have entrusted him with the mandate to serve them as Speaker through their elected representatives.
