With the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency Seat being declared vacant by the National Assembly following the demise of the occupant, Hon. Haruna Maitala who died in an accident in April 2021 and as the race for the replacement gets hotter, some youths in Jos North and Bassa LGAs under the aegis of Jos North Bassa Progressive Youths (JBPY) have endorsed the aspiration of an Activist in the State, Prince Mado Mado.

The Youths in a statement signed by their Chairman, Jimmy Shabiri hinted that their decision to endorse the Youth Activist was based on his antecedents, competence, tenacity and consistency in advocating for good governance as well as being a fearless voice against maladministration and poor leadership.

The group disclosed that Prince Mado possess the needed qualities, courage and what it takes to provide quality representation.

The full statement reads;

ENDORSEMENT OF PRINCE MADO MADO, BY THE JOS NORTH BASSA PROGRESSIVE YOUTH (JBPY).

After due consideration and several discussion regarding the problems affecting Jos North Bassa, We the members of (JBPY) under the leadership of Mr. Jimmy Shabiri, have decided out of progressive concerns to work and support the candidature of Prince Mado Mado the contestant on the YPP platform.

Some of our reasons after deliberation that prompt the endorsement of prince mado mado and we wish the good people of bassa Josnorth to certainly follow this decision and bring young, bold capable and progressive leadership.

1. After looking and analysing all the contestants on various platforms critically, we deduce and affirm that must of the contestants are former members, former chairman who have served under Josnorth or Bassa, the question that we all agreed and asked was? Their performances and antecedents during their time in office, that Josnorth Bassa remains one of the of the poorest and under developed Government considering it’s economic and resource base potential, taking note that it has produced members since the inception of democracy from 1999. Indeed one those not need a miracle worker to tell him or her that must of the contestant have failed during their time in office and we are wondering why they think that the people we endorse failure again.
2. Considering the recent attacks that was bedeviled on Bassa people especially Iregwe lands, records and verifiable interviews on local and national media showed that on Prince Mado Mado came out and spoke for the people during the time of distress without the fear of intimidation or the fear of being politically correct, that act of boldness, shows that indeed having a representative like Prince Mado Mado in Abuja surely means voice of the people will be heard loud and clear.
3. Also considering his antecedents on fighting for Governance, Prince Mado Mado has shown the tenacity and consistency in speaking and advocating for Governance irrespective of his party affiliations, he is one character that has stand the test of time, being criticized or insulted but has always stood resolute to speak tot he higher authorities and demanded good accountable leadership ok the Plateau, such character makes a good representative and we know with Prince Mado Mado surely we will our voices will be heard.

4.Politics for decades has always been for the elite, rich and their children, the youths have always been marginalised when it comes to the dinning table of political leadership, history has recorded that the progressive days of this country was during the time when young leaders where at the helms of affairs, they because Presidents at the age of 31, became Governors at 35 and today they said the youths are unproductive and they are not ready for leadership. Well we say no to that and with youths who have galvanized courage to seek high positions like Prince Mado Mado, it’s not only a thing of joy but also a move to encourage thousands of youths who have the zeal and the ideas to transform this nation but lack the boldness, we are youths l, be believe in our capacity and we will show the world that we have all it takes to transform this nation. Prince Mado Mado is a youth not only a youth, he is also the youngest amongst all the politicians contesting for the same position, we believe the time is now and the time is here so we will work and make sure Prince Mado Mado emerges as the winner of this coming elections.

We want the general public and must especially the youths to come together as we project one of ours, this will only encourage more youths, build more capacity in youths and propel them into position of leadership, we believe this is the time think progressively come together irrespective of tribe, religion etc.

Politicians will use such terms to divide us, but I assure you once they get into office, all they care about is self, children, family members and friends for enrichment. Let grow wiser and let’s support one of ours.
