Senator Jeremiah T. Useni has expressed absolute confidence in the Legal Team handling his Petition at the Plateau Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
“I have no iota of doubt about their competence level and legal skill to follow through on my petition to the point of recovering the mandate freely given to us by the people of Plateau in the 2019 governorship election.”
“But what I find inexcusable and unacceptable is the level of intimidation of my witnesses by forces who do not wish to allow the whole truth about the widespread electoral irregularities that characterised the election to come to the surface.”
Sen Useni assured supporters and stakeholders that he is working closely with his legal experts to overcome the desperate challenges being thrown his way.
“It’s a matter of time. We will get over this and any other challenges that we might encounter along the way. I appeal to our supporters and the people of Plateau to remain calm, prayerful and supportive of all the efforts of the Legal Team.”
Meantime, senior counsel Barr Sunny-Gabriel Odey, has explained that the team remains focused and highly motivated in pursuing this matter to a successful end.
“We are not stalling in any way. We have had genuine challenges, and our Learned Silk, High Chief Mike Ozekhome was open enough to succinctly and transparently place it before the honourable tribunal on Wednesday.”
“It is our case. We are keener to see it to its logical conclusion more than the Respondents can ever imagine. We are determined to conclude it so that we can recover our mandate in good time.”
At Wednesday’s resumed seating, Sen Useni brought in 38 fresh documents from four LGAs – Qua’an Pan, Mangu, Jos East and Shendam seeking to have them admitted in evidence.
These documents are INEC duplicate copies of Statements of Result (EC8A) and Registers of Voters accompanied by a four-page schedule of the documents.
Tribunal Chairman, Hon Justice HA Saleeman showed her trademark unwavering diligence in carefully going through the list, marking them and admitting them in evidence.
Useni has so far presented 65 witnesses in these proceedings.
