Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Shehu Usman says his administration will ensure accountability, transparency and equitable distribution of the palliatives received from the Plateau state Government for onward distribution to the poorest of the poor in the locality.
The Chairman stated this while presenting items to the Distribution Committee at the Local Government Secretariat in Jos.
The Distribution Palliatives Committee constituted by the local government involves religious leaders, ward Councilors, Development Organisation, Youths as well as Women representatives.
Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Shehu who personally oversaw the distribution process noted that Governor Simon Lalong understands the hardship being faced by the citizens of the state due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
He maintained that the state government decided to distribute palliatives to assist people whose means of livelihood have been badly affected due Corona virus pandemic ravaging the world.
The Chairman enjoined the Committee to conduct the exercise without bias noting that the palliatives would be shared to some of the most vulnerable and in different localities according to the template issued by the state administration.
The Chairman used the opportunity to appreciate citizens of the area for understanding with Government in the effort to contain the spread of COVID 19 and sued for continues support to the Lalong Administration.
The Chairman warned against diversion of the items adding that any person caught in such act would be dealth with.
Chairman Plateau Youth Council Jos North Branch, John Christopher appreciated Governor Lalong and the management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Shehu Usman for prioritising the welfare of the residents of the area.
He assured of his support and aligned himself with the distribution template of the items because of transparent nature demonstrated by the Management Committee Chairman in the distributing execise.
The All Progressive Congress Chairman of Jos North Local Government, Sani Gangare said the distribution of the palliatives was done beyond party affiliation, ethnic and religion.
All the people who received the items commended Governor Simon Bako Lalong and the Management Committee Chairman for coming to their aid at this time that COVID 19 pandemic has put hardship in the livelihood of the citizens and they prayed for God guidance until end of their tenure.
