A group under the auspice of Democracy Advocates have raised concern over what it described as “mischievous falsehood” being peddled by mischief makers against the President of National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Plateau State Chapter, Cmr. Arandong Yohanna Makwin following the strike action declared by the union on Sunday 27th August, 2023 across the State.
The Group through its National Secretary, Nentawe Danjuma said the decision to embark on the strike action was in the best interest of the Union Members especially their safety and security.
He said blackmailers and purveyors of instability and anti-NULGE agents, particularly, the suspended Local Government Chairmen have deployed the use of misinformation, mal-information and treachery by accusing the President, Comrade Arandong Yohanna Makwin of allegedly receiving the sum of N10 million to declare the necessary strike.
The group urged Plateau NULGE not allow itself to be intimidated by miscreants and blackmailers working in collaboration with the suspended local government Chairmen.

PRESS RELEASE
GROUP EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER ACTIONS OF MISCHIEF MAKERS AGAINST PLATEAU NULGE, CHARGES UNION TO UNITE AND NOT SUCCUMB TO CHEAP BLACKMAIL AND INTIMIDATION
30TH August, 2023
Sequel to the strike action declared by the Plateau state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) President, Comrade Arandong Yohana Makwin on Monday 28th August, 2023 and embarked upon by members, it has become imperative to clear a number of mischievous falsehoods being peddled by blackmailers against the President.
We wish to emphasize again that the strike action, to the best of our knowledge, is solely in the interest of union members particularly their safety and security.
It is once again, unfortunate that blackmailers and purveyors of instability and anti-NULGE agents, particularly, the suspended Local Government Chairmen have deployed the use of misinformation, mal-information and treachery by accusing the forthright President, Comrade Arandong Yohana Makwin of allegedly receiving the sum of N10 million to declare the necessary strike -nothing can be farther than the truth.
As lovers of democracy and stability, we cannot be quiet and see the needless distractions go on.
Therefore, we wish to state categorically clear too that; we are not unaware of the grand plan to infiltrate the ranks of NULGE in a bid to discredit the action and go as far as creating a faction of NULGE.
We wonder why these rabble-rousers, rather than deploy their resources to cause trouble, will not patiently tow the path of law and honor to air their grievances and seek redress.
For the umpteenth time we dare say that, Plateau NULGE must not allow itself to be intimidated by miscreants and blackmailers working in collaboration with the suspended local government Chairmen.
It is in the light of these that we charge NULGE members in Plateau state to remain united, committed and refuse the attempts to be dragged into a political tussle.
While the suspended Local Government Chairmen and their co-collaborators have a right to pursue their course in line with the constitution, we advise that they leave the NULGE President, Comrade Arandong Yohana Makwin and indeed all labour leaders in the state out of their mischief and callousness as intimidation and blackmail into silence are the most irresponsible ways to go about seeking redress.
Finally, we call on all lovers of democracy to stand in the path of truth, justice and security, especially at a time when the safety of the NULGE leadership in Plateau state is at stake.
Signed: Nentawe Danjuma
