One of the aspirants for the Chairmanships in Plateau state, Mr Emmanuel Jugul has described the change of date of the forth coming chairmanship elections as a ploy by the ruling party ran government to rig the elections. He made these assertions at the APGA secretariat in Jos, shortly after picking up his nomination form.

Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES, he was quoted as saying “The change in date is a grand plan to rig the elections.  The new date of 21st (December) as fixed by PLASIEC is too close to Christmas period.  Most people will be preparing to travel and celebrate the season with their loved ones; when will they have time for elections?”

It would be recalled that, the executive chairman of PLASIEC,  Mr. Peter Dalyop in a statement on Saturday, said his commission were  facing challenges beyond their control and therefore they had resorted to extending the election date by 2 weeks. Quoting operational and logistical challenges as the reason behind the extension.

Speaking on his candidacy, Mr. Jugul said if election, he would work to halt the incessant killing of residents of Riyom Local Government council –i.e., the LGA where he is seeking to be  chairman. Averring that the killing of citizens continues unabated because of the lack of unity amongst ethnic groups in the area. Further arguing that, having served as a legislator in the area for a few years, he was knowledgeable about happenings as they relate to his constituents and the area and therefore was capable of bringing succour.
