Reports reaching ViewPointNigeria indicate that the political scheming within Plateau state PDP has reached simmering levels. An inside source confirmed that a large section of aggrieved PDP members who were previously denied a chance to rejoin the party had started looking for ways to align themselves with the Alhaji Kawu Baraje faction of the PDP. Investigations by our correspondents suggests, that the scheming reached feverish levels last week, but has been said to have subsided over the last few days, pending what the group expect to be the escalation of the crisis at the national level –which would then allow them to make a bold move.

Reports reaching ViewPointNigeria indicates that the political scheming within Plateau state PDP has reached simmering levels.

It would be recalled, that a large number of PDP stalwarts lost out on the struggle for the soul of the PDP in Plateau state shortly before the 2011 elections and as such, they defected to other political parties and have been consistently denied an opportunity to re-join the party by the state PDP leadership. A source who spoke about the situation said, there appeared to be a conspiracy at the PDP national and state levels to frustrate their return to the party, saying that despite following the due process several times their efforts have been rebuffed without any cogent reasons. The source further confirmed that, the aggrieved members approached the PDP national chairman ahead of the convention and he promised to look into the matter, but it appears that nothing has been done in that regard.

The manner in which they were treated was said to have led to these members tinkering with the idea of aligning themselves with the Baraje led faction, as a protest move. These members were said to have tinkered with the idea of opening a parallel office at a location in Jos, but are currently said to have dropped the idea, whilst studying the present debacle rocking the PDP at national level.
It would be recalled that the chairman of the party in Plateau state, Mr. Haruna Dabin has consistently maintained that those wishing to return must follow the due process of going down to ward level and joining the party as opposed to attempting to follow a shortcut at the national level. He was quoted as saying that those who are approaching the national secretariat to join the party, should stop deceiving themselves because no one joined the party at the state level. Saying that, no matter your status, once you leave a party, due process must be followed when rejoining i.e., going back to the ward level to re-join.
