As political intrigues in Plateau state continue to advance into critical stages, a PDP stalwart in the state confirmed to ViewPointNigeria’s correpondents on Independence day in Jos, that the Governor of Plateau state, Da Jonah Jang appears to be working behind the scenes to present his Deputy Amb. Ignatius Longjan as his possible successor come 2015. The source who craved annonymity stated that the ticket, would feature Amb. Longjan at the top (as Governor) and Hon. Bitrus Kaze the member representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency at the bottom (as Deputy).

Asked if the selection of Hon. Kaze would not contravene the purported zoning arrangement which requires that the Deputy be from the Central Senatorial zone, the source averred that when the time is right it would be sorted out. He argued that since Bitrus Kaze was popular in the entire state, given his resolute and fearless stand against ethno-religious violence in Plateau, he was an easy choice for the position.

Asked if the selection of Hon. He argued that since Bitrus Kaze was popular in the entire state, given his resolute and fearless stand against ethno-religious violence in Plateau, he was an easy choice for the position.

It would be recalled that fairly recently, Bitrus Kaze was rumoured to have been gunned down by suspected assassins, but he took to his facebook page to debunk the insinuations. He has remained a lone voice in the National Assembly in respect of challenging injustices metted out to Plateau state and its people.

Our source however cautioned that, the information given in respect of the permutations of who takes over in 2015 were just what was being considered at present, but also said that several other names and combinations were being considered by the leadership of the state and this may change going forward. It would be recalled that the Governor of the state has consistently said that he did not know who would be the Governor after him and that he was seeking the face of God for guidance.
