Ambassador People Republic of China Presents Scholarship to 47 undergraduates of University of Jos

Ambassador of the Peoples’ Republic of China to Nigeria, Dr. Zhou Pinjian has presented scholarship worth 4.7 million Naira to 47 under graduate students of the University of Jos.
Pinjian made the presentation during the public interaction with University of Jos community at the multi purpose hall of the University in Jos the Plateau state capital yesterday.
According to him, October 1st is Nigeria independent day, while the date is also the Chinese national day pointing out that 47 students who were given scholarship signified 47 years of China diplomatic ties with Nigeria saying China got her independent in 1949.
The Ambassador further noted that he is overwhelmed by the hospitality accorded him and his entourage during the visit stressing that there exist a bond as well as similarity between Nigeria and China as the two countries set up diplomatic relationship on the 10th February 1971.
According to him, Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, China too is the most populous and has largest economy in Asia and the world pointing out they have set up vision 2020, 2035, and the middle of the century to achieve their dream.
In 2020, China will eradicate poverty by 100 percent, 2035 it will achieve its modernization and the middle of the century build China to became a greater country stressing that they will surely realized the Chinese dream.”
Pinjian further added that in 1978 the GDP is 1.8 percent while population is more than 20 percent of the world.
He pointed out that they belief that they are on the right part in the pursuit of their dream of rejuvenation as they value international relation noting that a Nation will prosper when its younger generation strives .
In his worlds ” I see a bright future of both countries . I see a bright future of Nigeria and China partnership,” He said .
Earlier in his opening remark , the Vice chancellor of University of Jos Prof. Seddi Maimako commended the Chinese ambassador for his visit adding that University of Jos is a federal government institution being funded by it.
The VC further noted that University of Jos is 43 years and has 12 faculties and centre with a population of the student to be over 30,000 with multi campus adding that with award of scholarship to 47 student will further deepen their relationship.
He appeal to the ambassador to established Chinese resources centre to create awareness of both countries saying University of Jos have two centre of bio research and called for collaborative research because the Chinese are good in that area.
The VC further appeal to the ambassador to extend the scholarship to post graduate student as well as University of Jos student to study in China stressing that they will also welcome Chinese student to come and study in the University of Jos noting that China is a global giant in yes of economy and business.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of #100,000 scholarship to each of the 47 under graduate. Among them was six physically challenged student .
In his vote of thanks on behalf of the awardees a physically challenged student who is visually impaired Bomboyi appreciate the Chinese ambassador and the government of the people republic of China for their kind gesture. He promise that their effort will never go in vein .
