Amb. Giwa Tackles Barr. Gyang Zi Over ‘Mischievous’ and ‘Misleading’ Comments

The APC Senate Candidate for Plateau North in the forthcoming rerun election, Ambassador Chris Musa Giwa has described as mischievous and misleading the statements credited to Barr. Gyang Zi at the Congress Meeting of the Berom Youth Moulders – Association (BYM-A) which held at Riyom Community Hall on Saturday 4th November, 2023.
In a statement signed by his Media Aide, Amb. Giwa said “Gyang Zi attempted to alter historical facts and lied to the public that he only approached the courts after Amb Chris Giwa had sued him alongside Hon Mwadkwon. In doing so, his motive was very clear, which is to draw sympathy and whip sentiments against our principal knowing that he (Gyang Zi) stands no chance in the ordered rerun as the Peter Obi factor which tremendously aided him during the general election is no longer available”.
Amb. Giwa pleaded with sociocultural groups to resist desperate politicians desirous of using their platforms for political campaigns as this is very wrong.

A RIGHT OF REPLY TO GYANG ZI MISCHIEVOUS AND MISLEADING STATEMENTS DURING BYM CONGRESS.

Our attention has been drawn to misleading, and mischievous statements by Barr Gyang Zi in his feeble attempt to rope in Amb Chris Giwa and exonerate himself of blames over the sacking of Hon Simon Mwadkwon Fwet as Senator.

During the Berom Youth Moulders Congress which held on Saturday, 4th November, 2023 at Riyom LGA, Gyang Zi attempted to alter historical facts and lied to the public that he only approached the courts after Amb Chris Giwa had sued him alongside Hon Mwadkwon. In doing so, his motive was very clear, which is to draw sympathy and whip sentiments against our principal knowing that he (Gyang Zi) stands no chance in the ordered rerun as the Peter Obi factor which tremendously aided him during the general election is no longer available.

Gyang Zi is credited as saying, that he congratulated Hon Simon Mwadkwon after the election and had no plan of petitioning his election. Where and when did he make this congratulatory message? Is it not contradictory and a dent on one’s integrity that he or she will go to court after congratulating a supposed winner?

It is public knowledge that during the electioneering campaign, Barr Gyang stated at various fora that any vote given to the PDP is wasted and will be retrieved using legal means. Specifically, he uttered these exact words on the 1st of January, 2023 during the Afizere annual new year celebration. The import of this is that, Gyang Zi had it mind all along that should he come second behind the PDP, he will head to the election petition tribunal.

It is also on record that on the 23rd of May, 2023, after the Supreme court dismissed the appeal of the PDP vs PLASIEC, Bar Gyang Zi wrote on his Facebook, ” I was there… The appeal has been dismissed finally by the Supreme Court and the order of 7th December, 2022 reaffirmed. The game is over”. It is instructive to note that he later deleted the said post, thus confirming that he is a man who cannot own up to his actions which is totally unbecoming of a leader especially one seeking the people’s trust through their votes.

Again, on the 24th of August, 2023, the Justice Rotimi led National Assembly petition panel affirmed the election of Hon Simon Mwadkwon. That same day, right in the court premises, the Gyang Zi campaign directorate issued a press release rejecting the tribunal verdict with his Director General, Hon Sati John Ayiki describing it as a mere judicial coronation of fraud” and indicated their resolve to proceed to the court of appeals. As at then, judgement was yet to be given on Amb Chris Giwa petition.

The aforementioned examples are just few among many actions taken by Gyang Zi during and after the 2023 general election which are clear indications that he willfully went to court to challenge the election of Simon Mwadkwon not because Amb Chris Giwa or any candidate did so.

We make these clarifications because we are mindful of the intentions of Gyang Zi and his team to cast aspersions, mislead and incite members of the public against Amb Chris Giwa, a man of uncommon courage, piety and integrity.

We also plead with sociocultural groups to resist desperate politicians desirous of using their platforms for political campaigns as this is very wrong.

We appeal to our opponents to engage in decent politics, avoid name calling, peddling of lies and whipping of sentiments for selfish political gains. What should be of importance is for candidates to showcase their capacity to get the job done based on experience, credibility and antecedents.

On our part, our principal has a enviable track record of interventions in human capital and infrastructural development which is what he intends to build upon as Senator of Plateau North and we have utmost trust in God that in the ordered rerun, we shall triumph and bequeath the good people of Plateau North a legacy of uncommon representation.

Signed
D’yong Mangut
Media Aide to Amb (Dr) Chris Musa Giwa,
APC Senatorial Candidate, Plateau North.
