Concerned stakeholders, youths, and loyal members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State have called on the leadership of the party to immediately announce what they described as the authentic result of the Jos South State House of Assembly primary election held on 20 May 2026.
Addressing journalists on Friday, the group expressed concern over the delay in officially announcing the result more than 48 hours after the conduct of the primary election, warning that the situation was creating anxiety and suspicion among party members and residents of the area.
The stakeholders alleged that while voting was peacefully concluded across the local government and results were known at ward and local levels, attempts were allegedly being made to alter the outcome of the exercise.
According to the group, they were in possession of documents showing what they described as the authentic result as well as another version allegedly containing figures inconsistent with the actual votes cast during the election.
They said the documents would be made available to the media and relevant authorities for scrutiny and verification.
The stakeholders maintained that primary elections must reflect the true will of party members, stressing that democracy would lose credibility if outcomes of elections conducted peacefully were later manipulated.
“Primary elections cannot become ceremonial exercises where people leave their homes, businesses, farms, and offices to vote only for another result to emerge elsewhere,” the group stated.
The group further noted that Jos-South had remained politically peaceful over the years due to mutual understanding and fairness among communities such as Vwang, Kuru, Gyel, Du, and Za’ang, warning that any attempt to impose a disputed result could undermine trust within the party.
They insisted that the matter was beyond the ambition of any individual aspirant and instead touched on the credibility of internal democracy within the APC.
According to the stakeholders, results known to party members from the election indicated that Hon. Mancha John Vincent polled 4,326 votes to emerge winner of the contest.
They therefore called on the APC national leadership to immediately announce the authentic result and reject any manipulated or substituted figures.
The group appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang to intervene and ensure justice and fairness in the process.
They also urged party youths and supporters in Jos-South to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding while awaiting the intervention of party authorities.
The stakeholders emphasized that the strength of the APC in Plateau State depended largely on justice, fairness, and the trust of grassroots members, adding that democracy could only thrive when the true will of the people was respected.
