Abuja, Nigeria – June 7, 2024
The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has announced that the Commission will incorporate agricultural skill acquisition for youth in its pilgrimage program. He made this known during a press briefing in Abuja.
The Commission recently held a 7-day retreat and pre-visit for special pilgrimage leaders, managers, and stakeholders in Nazareth, Israel, with the theme “Enriching Christian Pilgrimage Experience for Satisfaction.” Bishop Adegbite explained that the inclusion of agricultural skill acquisition for youths would allow them to gain firsthand knowledge of Israel’s renowned agricultural sector and how to replicate it in Nigeria.
He highlighted the potential benefits of tapping into the Israeli ecosystem and value chain. During his recent visit to Israel, the NCPC delegation met with government officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, and Border Control to address pending issues.
Bishop Adegbite assured Nigerian intending pilgrims of a rewarding experience during his tenure. He also weighed in on the minimum wage issue between organized labor and the Federal Government, urging both sides to reach an understanding on a minimum wage structure acceptable to all parties.
The Executive Secretary acknowledged the current economic challenges faced by Nigerians but expressed hope in the government’s efforts to reduce the burden on citizens.
