Former Governor of Plateau State, Sen. Jonah Jang has congratulated Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State on his resounding victory at the Supreme Court which affirmed his election as the Governor of Plateau State. Declaring the victory of Governor Caleb Mutfwang as a win for democracy and a setback for anti-democratic forces, former Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, urged the reversal of judgments disqualifying PDP National and State Assembly members from the state.
In his response to the Supreme Court’s decision upholding Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s election, Jang, represented by his Media Consultant, Clinton Garuba, remarked from Jos, the Plateau State Capital, expressing immense joy for the favorable verdict.
The ex-governor asserted, “Senator Jonah Jang receives with great joy the news of the Supreme Court judgment affirming Governor Caleb Mutfwang as the duly elected Governor of Plateau state. Surely, it is because of God’s mercy that He has allowed us to witness the good news today.
“Indeed, the governor’s victory at the Supreme Court is a victory for democracy and against the wishes of anti-democratic forces.
“We must thank the justices for upholding the Rule of Law thereby affirming the long-held belief that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man.
“We thank Plateau people for their vigilance; for trooping out in their hundreds and thousands in condemnation and resistance after the miscarriage of justice by the Court of Appeal.”
Appreciating the media for amplifying the public outcry against injustice, Jang also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for refraining from intervening in the judicial process despite pressure from opposing forces.
“The people are indeed grateful and want him to do more on the issue of genocidal war that has been declared on the state and its people by some forces of darkness who are hell-bent on appropriating, albeit forcefully, our God-given heritage”, he added.
Regarding the impact of the Court of Appeal’s earlier ruling, Jang highlighted the severe ramifications on the state’s representation at both state and national levels. He emphasized the need for the authorities to reinstate the people’s elected representatives and uphold their mandate.
“We, therefore, call on the good people of Plateau State to stand very united and strong because at the end of the day.
“We are going to come out victorious and our God-given heritage will stay, the dignity of Plateau man will be upheld and development will be scattered all around Plateau state as the Government of Governor Caleb Mutfwang has shown manifest commitment in these regards. We hope he will continue in that light”.
