A front line Governorship Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, a ex-top Military Officer and security Expert, Gen. John Sura has charged the Plateau State government to empower the State Security Outfit established during the last regime of Gov. Jonah Jang to complement the efforts of other security agencies in tackling the growing rate of attacks, killings and other forms of insecurity.

The retired Military General made this known in an Easter message made available to this medium.

His full text reads;

Today, while we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus which birthed our salvation and LIBERATION, we still mourn our husbands, wives and even more devastating, our Youths; who’s lives where untimely and gruesomely cut short from exploring and deploying the fullness of their potentials towards the betterment of our State.
Today, our hearts are filled with pains and our rage are beyond gauge because our lives and properties seems not to matter at all.

Our Prayers and Sympathy goes out to our brothers and sisters in Kanam, Miyango and every part of the State and Nation that has been ravaged by the activities of this Godless marauders, these are indeed difficult times that words may not matter but even then, our hopes are that God who knows all will comfort us and expose those behind our agony.

In the spirit of the Easter celebration, i call on all Plateau Sons and Daughters to pursue UNITY, as that forms the cardinal pivot towards ensuring and strengthening our survival as an obviously oppressed and targeted People.
We cannot afford to be divided at this particular trying moments.

I call on the Government to as a matter of urgency, to step up the security intelligence and response networks, so as to ensure a robust and expedient mitigation of the incessant destruction and killings of innocent citezens.
With the advantage of a State-Police-like structure in the State which was graciously established during President Goodluck and Baba Jang’s Governments, i call on the Governor to immediately upgrade, equipt and empower the OPERATION RAINBOW with all necessary resources and manpower that will enable them the capacity to help combat the rise in criminality, cultism and terrorism in our neighborhoods.
We must take advantage of this to help secure our State and the citezens from the torturous experiences unleashed by our enemies.

While we continue to trust in God, i call on all citezens to enbibe wisdom as they go about their businesses and pursuits.
We must remain vigilant and conscious of strange presence or activities in our communities.
With God on our side, we shall win this war.
