Member representing Jos North- North in the Plateau state House of Assembly and former Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon Ibrahim Baba Hassan in his quest for peace in the state and his Constituency has organized a one day Peace parley with community leaders, youths, traditional, and religion leaders with the theme;Mutual coexistence; Panacea for peace & Development.
The event which took place at Lamonde hotel conference Hall , GRA Jos, Plateau state was aimed to finding lasting solutions to the incessant crisis bedeviling the state.
The Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Ayuba Nuhu Abok in his remark commended the Lawmaker for this beautiful initiative towards peace building process.
Abok said “these criminals lives with us and we know them, so it is time we should identify this criminals, let us not shy away because this people are related to us but expose them that is when we would have peace in the state”.
The Speaker also said last time the house of Assembly instructed that people should stand up and defend themselves but not to take laws into hands by carrying arms, what we meant is that people should wake up from their slumber and be alert to protect their community.
He urged Communities to set up vigilante members and report all suspected and strange movement to the police but not to carry arms and ammunition.
In his keynote address Dr. Elias Nankap Lamle said there are different ethnicity and religion in Nigeria and they must live together.
“The parpetrators of this evil act are not Muslims or Christian’s but group of people that choose to create crisis for their personal gain, these people belongs to the underworld and we must identify this people from various community and bring them to peace building process.
“The radicals are in every community and have their gang and they are very united. We must come together as people irrespective of our ethnicity and religion to identify this radicals and bring them to Peace building process.”
Also Speaking Mallam Sani Suleiman charge community and religion leaders to always preach and act the truth not to hide a criminals because he belong to their ethic group or community.
The third Speaker, Dr. Chris Kwaja charge political leaders to engage youths in leadership, create opportunity for the Youths to strive, and embrace humanity.
Governor Simon Bako Lalong ably represented by the commissioner of special duties Hon. Jerry Wer Appreciated the member for the parley and said, “I want to thank the convener of this parley for this great and timely initiative, I wish and encourage other members to emulate and do same across their Constituency.
“I also want to change community leaders and invited guest here present to go back and preach Peace, report any criminal situation be it you brother that parpetrate the act.
“We should always think Plateau and act plateau, plateau home of peace and Tourism”.
Earlier the convener and initiator of the peace Parley, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Baba Hassan thank God Almighty for the opportunity and Appreciate especially traditional leaders, religion leaders, youths forum through the leadership of the PYC Jos North local government and the press.
Baba Hassan requested for a minute silent be observed in respect to those who lost their lives during the unrest situation that occurred in the local government.
He said, peace is very important that we can not do without it, we can not grow as nation, as state if there is no peace there for o see the need for us to come together as community leaders to brainstorm together and find lasting solution to the incesand crisis bedeviling us.
Present at the event were Hon. Philip Dasun, member representing Pankshin North and committee Chairman on information, Hon. Adamu Movo, member representing Wase in the Plateau state Assembly, and other members came in solidarity, also were the members of the civil society, District of Kabong, Ada Emmanuel Ajik, Christian Association of Nigeria Jos North chapter (CAN), JNI and Youth leadership
