Management Committee Chairman Jos South Local government council of Plateau state Hon Dachung Yohanna on Wednesday distributed palliatives worth millions of Naira to vulnerable women, youth and physically challenged persons across the council to cushion effects of lockdown as a result of the novel Coronavirus, COVID-19 pandemic, in the country.

Our correspondent reports that thousands of people have so far benefited from the palliatives.

Some of the palliatives distributed where from CAVOID .

The food items distributed include rice, sugar ,cartoons of Indomie cooking cubes and cooking oil and other items .

He said that the council thought it wise to ameliorate the hardship of vulnerable groups in the State.

While addressing and presenting the Palliative the LGA boss appreciated the people of Jos South for their patience and understanding and pledge to discharge his responsibility and justify the confidence and trust of the people

He further pleaded with all aggrieved bodies in the local government to forgive him in areas of his lapses and promised to work with the general people of Jos South for the growth and development of the state.

Hon Yohanna applauded the efforts of Governor Simon Lalong in delivering dividend of democracy to the state of which Jos South is inclusive and promised to create and maintain synergy with the state government in ensuring the delivery of the goods to all and sundry..

He also appreciated CA-Covid and State government the donors of the palliative for the thoughts they have towards humanity by such display of kindness to mankind…

He said the gesture was part of palliatives to cushion the effects of the partial lockdown.

He also said that the palliative was not to be shared on political parties, ethnic and religion basis.

The chairman said that he had put machinery in motion to ensure the process was not hijacked and that the foods get to those that really need them.

He assured the people in the area that the government would continue to prioritise their health, security and welfare.

The distribution process also observed and complied with social distancing and other public health advisory measures to educate the rural populace on COVID19 prevention.
