COVID-19 Palliative: Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Center Share Food items to 300 Persons Living with Disability.

As part of efforts towards cushioning the effect of the on-going lock down among people living with disability in Plateau State, Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Center, a Jos based non-profit foundation has distributed food items to 300 person’s living with disability.
The distribution which took place today the 4th of May, 2020 held at the Plateau State Disability Right Commission located at Apollos crescent, Tudun Wada GRA, Jos.
According to Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan, CEO Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Center, the COVID-19 palliative supported by partners is to ensure people living with disability who are among the most vulnerable in the society do not die of hunger.
He said, “lock down without palliative is not sustainable. Statistics has shown that only 15% of people living with disability are employed in both the formal and informal sectors of Nigeria, thus they are worst hit in the COVID-19 pandemic. We appeal and call on government and spirited individuals to come to the aid of this vulnerable group in the society.
Secretary of Plateau State Disability Right Commission, Gurumyen Carl appreciated the foundation for coming to the succour of the beneficiaries. Also, the Chairman of Joint National Association of People living with disability in Plateau State, Mr Seth Attah on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the foundation for providing pallaitive to some of its members stating that this is the first of its kind.
The 300 beneficiaries were drawn from Jos North, Bassa, and Jos South Local Government Areas of Plateau State and belong to the five recognised disability groups in the State.
