Long Gamai and the Gamai Nation has commended President Muhammadu Buhari on the appointment of Justice Monica Mensem-Dongban as Acting President of the Court of Appeal.

It will be recall that after the expiration of Justice Zainab Bulkachwa’s tenure and her subsequent retirement after her years of meritorious service to the Nation as President of the Court of Appeal, the next in line as the most senior Justice is Justice Monica Mensem-Dongban from Plateau State.

Until her appointment as Acting President of the Court of Appeal, she was heading the Enugu Division of the Court of Appeal.

The Gamai Unity and Development Organisation GUDO in a statement jointly signed by it’s president Theodore Bala Maiyaki and Secretary General Bitkop Damsuk Fidelis respectively noted that the Gamai Nation and indeed the entire citizens of Plateau State stand in gratitude for President Muhammadu Buhari for honouring them stressing that posterity will gladly reckon with this.

According to the statement this development will go down the annals of history that President Muhammadu Buhari’s penchant for integrity and placing square pegs in square holes by getting the best people onboard his team to help reposition Nigeria on the path of truth and honour is matched to none as well as unprecedented.

“The approval of Justice Monica Mensem-Dongban’s appointment in Acting capacity, a woman to take over from Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa a fellow woman, is a clear testimony of how gender-sensitive your Administration is.”

They pointed out that while thanking President Muhammadu Buhari for this historic honour done to Plateau State and the people of North-Central zone as a whole, they must note with profound gratitude the recent consideration by the National Judicial Council for recommending her to be made the substantive President of the Court of Appeal.

“As a people, we urge Mr. President to forward her name to the National Assembly for confirmation so as to consolidate on the confidence repose in her with the view to benefits from her outstanding and impeccable experience on the Court of Appeal bench in moving it to the next level. ” The statement enthused .
