APC’s government Inaction Responsible for Ethnic Cleansing In Plateau State -Rt. Hon. George Daika.
Former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. George Edwards Daika has condemned the ethnic cleansing ongoing in Plateau State which led to the loss of about 200 lives in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas of the State.
According to Hon. Daika “the communities where the killings took place have witnessed recurring attacks which seems to be ignored by the APC led government of Governor Lalong because of political correctness. How else can one explain why a Government will abandon innocent citizens for three (3) days still counting while well coordinated massacre is going on?”
In an era where community policing is adopted as best practices world wide, Hon. Daika wonders why the Plateau State Government made moribund the ‘Operation Rainbow’ security outfit it inherited from its predecessor knowing it was established to complement the other security agencies in the State. An action which he said has worsened the security situation in the state.
He further lends his voice to the call by the Elder Statesman, Gen. TY Danjuma (Rtd) for self defense He said ‘While I call for calm, individuals and communities should defend themselves when the need arises as their right to life is an inalienable right in line with Gen TY Dajuma’s position which is enshrined in the constitution. He proffered that “time has come for the Plateau State Government to call for a bipartisan and inclusive stakeholders meeting to take far reaching decisions for the good of the State.
Hon. George Edwards Daika commiserates with the bereaved and calls for government and well meaning Nigerians to come to the aide of the wounded, hungry and homeless. Daika also called for concerted vigilance and prayers from all Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion, and political affiliations for God’s all round protection on Plateau State and the nation at large.
