There has been a fresh attack in Bassa LGA, Plateau State, as at least no fewer than one person has been killed and two were reported injured by suspected Gunmen in Kwal community of Miango district of Bassa local Government Area of Plateau state.

The National PRO, Miango Youths Development Association, Mr Lawrence Zongo who confirmed the incident to this medium on Wednesday said, that the suspected gunmen arrived the Kwal junction close to Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, (ANAN) and open fire to innocent residents, even as they continue shooting sporadically leaving at least one person dead and two other persons critically injured.

According to him, the killers squads came in a motorbike and committed the act, he said attack which lasted several hours drove away residents who scamper for safety following sporadic gunshots in the air by the assailants.

He said there has been fear and panic after the sporadic gunshots which have created tension and pandemonium within the communities. The eyewitness told our medium that they have reported the attack to security personnel who came and took snap shots of the area where act happened.

Zongo disclosed that the security personnel have drafted their personnel to mount surveillance to curtail further break down of law and order.

The National President of Irigwe Youth Forum, Mr Chinge Dodo also confirmed the attack but said they are yet to clear whether the attackers were armed robbery syndicate. “We are working very hard to know if those who perpetrated the act were herders or suspected arm robbers according to the youth president “, he said.

The Plateau State Police Command, Spokesman, ASP Tyopev Mathew Terna said they are yet to receive such information but will furnish this medium with more details of the attack.
