As the race for who will succeed Gov. Simon Lalong who is completing his tenure as the Executive Governor of Plateau State continues, Prof. Rotgak Gofwen has said Plateau State is in dire need of a detribalized, exposed and purpose driven Leader who will work towards achieving a greater and prosperous State.
Prof. Gofwen, a Consultant to Senate Committee on Drugs and Narcotics who a Member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Sen. Hezekiah Dimka’s “Hope Alive” Governorship Campaign made this known while interacting with the Media at the Campaign Office of the Senator in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.
He disclosed that what comes to mind when the name “Nde Sen. Hezekiah Dimka” is mentioned is a detribalized Nigeria who serve the Nation meticulously as a Senior Police Officer have risen to the rank of a Police Commissioner after serving as Divisional Police Officer in various Places and as the Aide- De-Camp to the former Governor of Bauchi State, Late Abubakar Tatari Ali.
He hinted that considering the insecurity bedeviling the Nation, the Senator is well prepared and ready to bring to bear his wealth of experience to ensure the menace is confronted to give rise to a safer, peaceful and prosperous Plateau State that will be the pride of all.
“When you look at Plateau State now, we need people that have some certain level of exposure and in the course of all his assignments, he has rubbed shoulders with a lot of people”
“He is someone who doesn’t need introduction at least, he has reasonable contact and his maturity speaks volume about his leadership prowess”
“Giving his background, his exposure and kind of person, Plateau State can do well with him as Governor looking at how he has been performing exceptionally and despite being a first-timer, he was made the Chairman of a sensitive Committee of the Senate”
“He has demonstrated that given the chance, he can do more” he said.
According to him, the Distinguished Senator has been able to attract people-oriented programmes/activities, infrastructural development, empowered his Constituents through skill acquisition and lobbied for employment to many youths.
In his remarks, the Senator representing Plateau Central and Chairman Senate Committee on Drugs and Narcotics, Nde Hezekiah Dimka lauded the critical roles played by the Media in sensitizing the public on critical governance issues, drawing the attention of public officeholders where necessary and disseminating accurate, reliable and timely information for public consumption.
He said he is set to commission more projects that will have direct impacts on the people and will continue to do more.
He made it clear that his decision to contest for the Governorship of Plateau State is to ensure all are carried along in governance and be able to serve the people with patriotism.
“Plateau State like any other State is being confronted by security challenges and we are committed to put our best to address that because without security no meaningful development and economic growth can be achieved, so we will give priority to security”
“Without security our market women cannot do business, our children/teachers cannot go to school and our economy will be stagnant” he posited.
He said having served as a top security Officer for 35 Years, he is experienced and skilled to make Plateau State peaceful the way it used to be in the past and how our forefathers bequeathed it.
