The Executive Director of the Not-Too-Young-To-Lead-Initiative, Mr. Elvis Akpobi has charged political parties across the country to put forward and support young Nigerians with character and competence as their candidates ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Akpobi who is also the Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Youth Development made the call considering the pace at which political activities leading to 2023 General Elections have picked.
He gave this charge while addressing delegates of the just concluded National Youth Conference held at the Velodrome, Moshood Abiola National Stadium in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Mr Akpobi noted that the time had come for youths to be elected into political offices where decisions are made so as to flood the system with new age ideas as is obtainable all over the world.
Mr Akpobi commended the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for electing the youngest ever youth leader of the party at the Just Concluded National Convention of the party which held at the Eagle Square Abuja.
He challenged other political parties to follow that path of the PDP by giving more young people opportunity to start at an early age.
He however cautioned youths who had been given opportunity to hold both elective and appointive political positions not to betray the trust reposed in them by going against the ethical laws.
Mr Elvis Akpobi is a civil society activist, politician and a youth mobilizer who is considered one of the greatest pillars of modern democratic reforms for youth inclusiveness in policy and political participation across Nigeria and indeed Africa.
