Gov. Mutfwang Says Quality Education Top Priority of His Administration as He Flags Off Distribution of School Furniture

The Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang has again rekindled hope of providing sound and quality education as he assured the Citizens of the State of the unwavering commitment of his administration to make education a top priority.

Governor Mutfwang made this known during official flag off ceremony for the distribution of Plastic Chairs and Tables procured by the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board to Primary and Junior Secondary Schools across the State which held on Wednesday 19th June, 2024 at Government Science and Technical College Bukuru “BUTECH” Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State.
He disclosed that the distribution of furniture to School signaled a chain of events to follow especially the provision of infrastructural interventions to the education sector to fill the existing Infrastructural gap his administration inherited.


He said his administration met education at a deplorable state but efforts are being deployed to transform school environment to restore excitement in schooling.
He reiterated that his administration is demonstrating commitment to ensure that the standard of education in the State is raised beyond its present level.
The Governor promised to visit the famous Technical College for a need assessment in order to have first-hand information of areas that require attention for timely and necessary intervention.

The Acting Chairman of Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Sunday Samuel Amuna in his remarks averred that the intervention is aimed at providing conducive learning environment for learners stating that the gesture will go a long way in boosting education in the State.
He assured the Citizens that the Board is working assiduously to ensure that its core mandate of providing qualitative and accessible education to the Plateau Child is achieved.
He charged the benefiting Schools to put the furniture to proper use. He admonished the respective Communities to take ownership of the intervention and safeguard same and other government facilities against vandalism and theft.
He applauded the Governor of Plateau State for the prompt payment of counterpart funds which has attracted numerous projects and other interventions from the Federal Government through the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).
He highlighted some of the achievements of the Board since he assumed office to include the award of contracts for the construction of over one hundred classroom blocks, renovation of dilapidated structures, digging of boreholes, purchase and distribution of Motorcycles to the Seventeen Local Government Education Areas and many more.

The Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council, Hon. Peter Vwang-Dung and Plateau State Commissioner of Secondary Education, Hon. Mohammed Nyalun for giving attention to education as well as the Infrastructural intervention to the education sector and the State at large.

Kanam, Jos South and Mangu were the Local Government Areas that benefitted from the initial distribution while other Local Government Areas are expected to also benefit as the distribution progresses.
