This is not the first time a security threat is being issued by ” unknown gun men” to communities, corporate organisations and individuals and certainly this will not be the last.

This will also not be the first and certainly not the last that such threats will be executed to the latter without any arrest nor iota of who carried such attacks.

According to the reports going round on social media, ” bandits” have issued a stern warning to Christians in Zamfara state to desist from going to church or face annihilation.

It is shocking that at the time of putting this piece together, I have not heard any statement nor action from the state or the federal government, not even the usual condemnation. This is Nigeria, they are keenly waiting for the attack to be carried out first, then they will come out and condemn.

The Zamfara state police command on its part had issued the old and regular slogan, ” we are on top of the situation” this usually comes even when it is obvious that the police is far beneath the situation. Well, in the case of Zamfara state police command, despite purportedly being on top of the situation, the police was quick to issue some tips to the Christian communities to reduce worship time and step up their internal security mechanisms.

This is shocking, ridiculous and laughable hearing such threats coming days after the United States of America had removed Nigeria from “countries of particular concern” regarding religious freedom. Although this position has been rejected by Christian communities with the vehemence it requires, one is waiting to see what the Christian Association of Nigeria will do in the face of an impending danger facing Christians in Zamfara state.

It is time for governments at all levels and all the umbrella bodies of Christians to act fast and not wait for the danger to happen before we come out to merely condemn.

Like I always say, a stich in time, saves nine.
