Youths in Hundreds Locked Down Langtang North, Demands Hon. Laven to Be Declared Winner

Today, Hundreds of angry youths in Langtang North LGA of Plateau State locked down Langtang North Headquarters as well as the Local Government Secretariat Complex to protest what they termed the greatest electoral fraud and conspiracy between the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) and the APC-led government in the State.

The youths we came out in their numbers said they are protesting to ensure the genuine and authentic results of the 10th October, 2018 Council Polls in the Area is announced and the person who won declared winner.

The described the actions of PLASIEC and State government as illegal and already causing serious security threat to the State.

They said elections were conducted and PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Joshua Laven Ubandoma and Councillorship Candidates won in majority of the Wards but to their amazement, the returning officer to the Local Government disappeared without finalizing the collation of the result and announcing the winners only to appear in Jos the State Capital with doctored results and announcing APC Candidate who got less votes and Councillorship Candidates as the winners.

“How can you announce someone who lost an election be declared and sworn in as winner even when the elections were declared inconclusive and no rerun was conducted?”
“We would not condone such broad daylight criminality” Mr. Stephen Danfa a youth in the Locality said.

They said they would not allow any form of injustice and impunity in their Local Government and promised to continue to keep vigil at the Secretariat to see how an illegally selected Chairman would resume office.

We are ready to protect our votes and no person will subvert our will and go Scot free.

While they promised to be law-abiding, they said they would not want any person who knows he/she lost the polls think of occupying an illegal office.

They said they have the results from all polling units and Wards, therefore are aware of winners which they would not allow anyone tamper with.

They said they are ready to spend months to ensure PLASIEC do the needful.
