A political pressure group under the auspices of Plateau Youth Coalition for Change has commended Governor Simon Lalong for dissolving former council chairmen and reconstituting a new one, an action, they claimed, had earned the governor so much popularity in just two months in office.
The group also passed a vote of confidence on the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration of Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State.
They also applauded moves made by Gov. Simon Lalong’s administration so far, especially the efforts of government in payment of outstanding civil servant’s salary arrears inherited from the last administration.
According to a statement signed by chairman of the youths, Hon. Isa Musa and Secretary, Hon. Jerry Audu and made available to our correspondent in Jos on Sunday, the group said: “The coalition is in total support of the milestone decision and bold steps taken by the governor so far, especially the dissolution of council chairmen.
“By reconstituting the council administration, Gov. Lalong has simply acted in response to the yearning and aspirations of Plateau people who urged the governor to put an end to the political dynasty of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by dissolving the leadership of the third tier of government in the state.
“We also wish to salute the commitment of Gov. Lalong to the plight of the state civil servants who were owed seven month salary by the last PDP-led administration in the state.
“We also applauded the decision of the governor to heed the directive of the state House of Assembly by moving the seat of government to the new Government House in Little Rayfield. We view this as exhibition of respect for the legislative arm of government”.
The group therefore called on citizens of the state to continue to support the APC-led administration in the state so as to surpass the record of the PDP administration which they alleged “misruled the state for 16 years.”
They also advised the opposition PDP to embark on constructive criticism instead of castigating government and party that are determined to enshrine positive change in all sector of the state.
