40 years ago, in 1977, the world stood still as the Ngas sombi group led the procession of hundreds of musical groups from around the world (48 African Countries along with contingents from the UK, the Caribbean and Latin America) into the Main Bowl of the National Stadium, Surulere to celebrate the 2nd edition of the World Black Arts and Culture, FESTAC. YIL NGAS magazine remembers this momentous achievement, which came in the darkest hour of the Ngas nation.
Have you ever wondered how the Ngas sombi music came to be on Radio Plateau? Well, wonder no more! YIL NGAS presents to you the history of the Sombi music on Radio Plateau: how it came to be the Signature (SIG) tune of Radio Plateau, its fall from grace when it was suspended, its reinstatement and its current status.
Savour it! Get the just published 2nd edition of the YIL NGAS magazine at the minimum cost price of N500 only per copy for these and many more! Contact Luk’ka J. Jiwul on 08030796163 for your copy or copies.
