In order to address lack of food in the School and put smiles on the faces of the less privileged and persons living with disabilities, the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos today took food assistance to Plateau State School for the Deaf Bassa LGA.
While delivery the food items and blankets, the Director of Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos, Chief Ayuba Gufwan Burki who spoke to the Pupils/Students through an Interpreter said the gesture was from the Centre and the generosity of the Honorable Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Dame Pauline Tallen which is aimed at addressing the welfare needs of the Pupils/Students of the School.
He expressed happiness to be with the Pupils/Students who he encouraged to discard indolence, demonstrate hard work and excel in their academic in order to be useful to themselves and the society.
He posited that there is great ability in disability and admonished them as future leaders not to allow their condition deter them from attaining their full potentials saying to have a great Nation, all hands must be on deck.
“All hands cannot be on deck if every person is not given the opportunity to develop his/her potentials” he stressed.
He called for the Pupils/Students to be equipped in order to provide solutions to the numerous problems bedevilling the Nation.
He said they were in the School to visit and support them with food items and blankets.
He appealed to government at all levels and spirited individuals to provided the required interventions and assistance to the School.
The Principal of the School, Mrs Nanbam Silas lauded the Centre and Honorable Minister of Women Affairs for always assisting them with the necessary interventions and bringing succour to the Schools in many ways. She said the donation came at the time there was no food in the School.
The Head Boy Felix Nkup and Head Girl Jirit Sunday of the School who spoke through an interpreter appreciated the donors for the kind gesture and for identifying with them in their most trying moments with the interventions.
They pray God to open doors so they can do more to others in dire need.
The items donated were; 20 bags of Maize, 7 Bags of Millet, 5 Bags of Beans, 3 Bags of 25kg Rice, 5 Jerry Cans of 30 litres Palm Oil, 3 Cartons of Macaroni, 30 Cartons of Noodles, 2 Cartons of Vitali Tomato Paste and 2 Bales of Blanket.
Plateau State School for the Deaf Bassa LGA has over 400 Pupils/Students for the Nursery, Primary, Junior/Secondary levels.
