Whistleblowers Uncovers Alleged Looting and Illegal Sales of Government Property

The constitution of the Task Force on Recovery of Purported Auctioned Government Property by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Mutfwang was greeted with jubilation by the Citizens of the State with the promise to furnish the Committee with available and useful information that will help it achieve its mandate.
The Committee is chaired by former Permanent Secretary in the State, Nde Isaac Wadak with Barr. Pam Gyang as it Secretary and other Members.
The Committee has assured the Citizens of the State that it is not out to witch-hunt anyone or any organization, but to engender appropriate protocols of accountability for the overall interest of the people of the State by ensuring that all property auctioned by the previous administration was done in accordance with the law.
Some Whistleblowers have given hints on some alleged looting, conversion of government property to personal use and some illegal sales of government property.
One of these is the alleged sale of the recently renovated Shendam Governors lodge (VIP) which was said to sold to a prominent politician in the State. The whistleblower wants that properly looked into and to confirm if the sale was done in the best interest of the State and in line with the law.
Others are the sale of a Block of Government Quarter within the Government Reserved Areas (GRA) Mangu Court sold to a politician who renovated it and has since put same on rent.
There are also allegation that other quarters as well as undeveloped portions within the GRA were also sold to some persons believed to be friends and relations to some top Government functionaries in the immediate past administration.

Another allegation is that of a large Government land located at Bukuru near Kugiya Market was demarcated into plots and sold to certain persons.

There are also allegation that certain Government plots at Shendam GRA were sold to friends and relations of previous administration.

Allegations also exist of some Government Hilux Vehicles with people outside the government in the name of Supervisors or Consultants of government projects that are not ongoing. The whistleblower said a comprehensive report on list of all government vehicles that were purchased during Governor Jang be demanded for and audited to address the issue of conversion of government property to private use.
The whistleblower fingered a former commissioner for lands, survey and town planning during the past Administration.

The Whistleblower is of the opinion that the above can be verified and confirmed by the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Town Planning headquarters Jos and the Shendam Zonal Office, the Ministry of Housing Jos and the Office which is in charge of the allocation of Government quarters at the Cabinet Office Jos.

Another Whistle wants an investigation into alleged ongoing illegal sales of Government Land at Langtang, located at Wase Road Junction.
Another wants the issue surrounding Industrial Layout, Dahwol Giring Jos South LGA which was alleged to be taken over by government from the customary owners without any form of compensation to be allocated to individuals for industrial purpose. The Whistleblower said the certain top Government functionaries have converted same into residential area and sold to individuals. When in 2019, beacons were erected, the original land owners wrote a letter of complaint to the ministry, and no response was gotten from the ministry.
The Whistleblower hinted that search was conducted on file number BP 2204, and it was discovered there was no compensation. He said he has a photocopy of the first search. He said another property with file number PL 5665 is still without compensation made on it.
He wants that investigated.

Another Whistleblower hinted that investigation should be carried out on the disappearance of a Toyota Hilux belonging to the Ministry of Science and Technology which is still in the Custody of a Appointee of the previous government as well as a white Peugeot 406 belonging to a newly established agency in the State.
Another Whistleblower drew attention to 3 number of flats belonging to Plateau State Water Board with large undeveloped portion which staff used to cultivate but of recent, a building has been erected which the Whistleblower alleged is not a Government building but an individual’s.
