VeryDarkMan and the Pathetic Ignorance of the Plateau Situation – Concerned PDP Group

“The Most Violent Element in the Society is Ignorance” – Emma Goldman

We were dismayed by the uncharitable commentary from Social Media Influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Very Dark Man (VDM), directed at the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, concerning his remarks on the investigation into the killings of cows in Plateau State.

As a reputable group committed to peace, unity, and national progress, we feel obligated to contribute to the discussion, despite not advocating for the Governor. It is clear that VDM either lacks knowledge of the Plateau situation or was misinformed, leading to his use of derogatory language against our Governor.

Given the state’s current security challenges, the most constructive approach is to empathize with those directly affected and identify with the state’s plight. The use of derogatory terms against the Governor, who has been diligently working to address the issue, is unacceptable.

We value constructive and solution-driven criticisms; however, VDM’s vitriolic remarks are unbecoming in a decent democracy and fall short of acceptable standards for constructive criticisms.

Governor Mutfwang has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to unity, peace, and harmonious coexistence through his inclusive governance approach.

Since assuming office, he has worked tirelessly to ensure that all citizens are integrated into the governance process, fostering a sense of belonging regardless of ethnic, religious, or political affiliations.

VDM should acknowledge that the collaborative efforts of Governor Mutfwang and the Security Agencies have resulted in the arrest of individuals linked to attacks on certain communities in the State. These arrests were made possible by thorough investigations. The concerted efforts of the current administration to combat insecurity and other forms of crime warrant appreciation from well-meaning citizens.

As a reputable group, we fully support Governor Mutfwang’s initiatives to eradicate insecurity and other criminal activities.

Clearly, VDM is oblivious to the Governor’s endeavors to restore enduring peace, promote mutual trust, and foster greater unity among the citizens of the State. VDM’s level of concern about the killings’ impact on Plateau is not commensurate with that of the Governor.

We advise other overzealous persons to reconsider their stance and strive to grasp situations before making inflammatory and derogatory statements that could exacerbate the State’s precarious situation.

We strongly advise VDM and other troublemakers to desist from meddling in the affairs of Plateau State, given their lack of genuine interest in the State’s well-being.

As a group dedicated to promoting unity, peace, and progress in Plateau State as well as democratic ideals, we will not remain passive in the face of malicious utterances. It is essential that individuals reflect on the potential consequences of their statements to prevent exacerbating tensions. We applaud the initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace and Governor Mutfwang’s steadfast commitment to fostering a united and prosperous Plateau State.

The Governor has facilitated numerous peace dialogues and other activities aimed at achieving greater peace. Governor Mutfwang has made significant strides since assuming office, evident in his developmental initiatives, peace building efforts, and human capital development. We urge him to remain focused and not be swayed by individuals with ulterior motives, instead providing sound and purposeful leadership to the citizens.

It is evident that certain individuals are uncomfortable with the progress made by the current administration and seek to destabilize the state, reverting it to its former state.

As patriotic citizens, we will not allow them to succeed in their plans. We are committed to the state’s growth and development, ensuring that meaningful and people-centric development are achieved.

We implore the people of Plateau State to remain united and provide the necessary support for the Governor to succeed for the collective good of the citizens. We will continue to contribute our quota to the growth and development of Plateau State at all times.
