Two suspected members of Boko Haram were arrested by the State Security Services (SSS) on Thursdays while making preparations to bomb the Holy Ghost Parish Makurdi the capital city of Benue. Acting on a tip up, the SSS officials swung into action to affect the arrests.

The suspects, Habu Umaru and Mohammed Isah were immediately charged to court to stand trial before a chief magistrate court 7 in Makurdi. The court was informed by the prosecution that Habu Umaru who was arrested at the church, came to survey the church before finalising plans for the said act. Umaru after the arrest admitted that he was a Boko Haram member and got 30,000 naira to find churches with large congregations for target. He further stated that 200,000 naira was promised him after the successfully completion of the task which was intended for Benue, Taraba and Adamawa states.

He was however arrested when security men of the church who suspected his moves acted swiftly. The suspect had earlier told them that he was at the church because he wanted to convert to Christianity.
