Troops of 3 Division/Operation Safe Haven, in collaboration with a strategic intelligence agency, conducted a successful intelligence-led operation in the early hours of 11 May 2025 at Marit Mazat in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.

The operation followed the arrest of a suspected gunrunner and kidnapper, Mr. Yahaya Adamu, on 10 May 2025 at Barakin Gangare in the same LGA. Acting on actionable intelligence obtained from the initial arrest, troops conducted a follow-up operation which led to the apprehension of another notorious gunrunner and kidnapper, Mr. Saeedu Haruna. Recovered from the operation were one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, and an ITEL mobile phone.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the arrested individuals and their criminal syndicate have been responsible for numerous criminal activities in Gashish and Kurra Falls areas of Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State, as well as Gwantu and Fadan Karshe in Sanga LGA of Kaduna State.

The suspects are currently in custody and cooperating with investigators by providing valuable information. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate and recover additional weapons.

Operation Safe Haven commends the local communities for their continued support and cooperation. Citizens are encouraged to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to enhance efforts in eliminating criminal elements and ensuring the safety of lives and property within the Joint Operations Area.
